In China, the art of natural lacquer boasts a heritage spanning over eight thousand years. Yet, like many ancient traditions, this remarkable craft remains largely undiscovered by the rest of the world.

We are CORNERS STUDIO. Rooted in Fuzhou, China—a historic heartland of lacquer craftsmanship—we operate a dedicated workshop with a broader vision: to bring China’s living traditional crafts to the global stage through our digital window in the United States.

Our journey begins with natural lacquer—starting with a single drop of sap. We use this ancient medium not only to fashion traditional bodiless lacquerware, but also to create objects tailored for contemporary living. Among these, our handcrafted lacquer phone cases are where we pour our deepest passion and care today. We believe that tradition should not be frozen behind museum glass. It is meant to be held, touched, used, and woven into everyday life.

We do not chase volume, nor do we follow fleeting trends. We choose to slow down, crafting each piece by hand. Every object requires weeks—sometimes months—to complete, because time itself is an essential element of the creation. Natural lacquer cannot be forced; it is patiently nurtured. It responds to humidity, ambient air, and the quiet rhythm of day and night, gradually taking shape over time.

This is only the beginning. Natural lacquer is our first chapter, but our hope is to bring more forgotten Chinese heritage crafts back into the world’s view, step by step.
